Education Logistics (EDULOG) Consulting Services Reduces School District of Cheltenham Township, PA Bus Routes; Also Contributes $1000 to Cheltenham School District Scholarship Foundation
Missoula, MT – November 13, 2012 – Education Logistics, Inc. (EDULOG) announced today that the School District of Cheltenham Township of PA was able to reduce its bus routes by one, through the efforts of EDULOG senior consultant James Stokes and other EDULOG staff. When the district decided to implement EDULOG’s routing and scheduling transportation management system, it also contracted with the company to have EDULOG perform a number of optimization scenarios. The preliminary step was to perform an optimization without any changes to existing policies; future optimization work will be conducted based upon GPS collected stop, run and route information, providing for further savings.
Cheltenham Township is a diverse, suburban community in Montgomery County, PA, which sits on the northwest border of the city of Philadelphia in the heart of the Northern Greater Philadelphia region. The District operates four K-4 elementary schools, one 5-6 elementary school, one 7-8 middle school, and one high school, serving 4,499 students total. In June 2012, the district engaged the services of EDULOG for a multiphase large scale optimization of the district’s regular education routing and scheduling activities to determine if a reduction in the school bus fleet requirement could be obtained while maintaining the same level of service to the community.
“With the School District of Cheltenham Township, EDULOG agreed to a shared savings approach, we do the work and if we can create savings, the district would pay a percentage for our services. And, if despite our best efforts, we can’t find any greater efficiency, the district doesn’t pay a fee,” said EDULOG’s President Jason Corbally. “This shared savings approach, coupled with our commitment to give back to the community, should result in a number of local scholarships for graduating high school students. It is very satisfying to not only help the school district save money, but to help local students with their continuing education.”
